The owner of this property loves the location and wanted to ensure she could remain in the property as she ages. At the same time, her adult daughter expressed interest in returning to the West Coast to be closer to the larger family unit. As these ideas took shape, they decided to build a Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (DADU) with a two-car garage and to renovate the main home creating a living space that supports multi-generational living on the property.
By starting with a carbon copy of a carriage house (DADU) design previously created by S.A.G.E DESIGNS NW for a property at the north end of town, we were able to significantly reduce costs during the conceptual design phase. The timeless architectural style of a dwelling above a garage is a highly efficient use of space, and our client appreciated the design, finding it an ideal foundation for their project.
S.A.G.E. DESIGNS NW and MIGHTY HOUSE CONSTRUCTION collaborated closely with the homeowner to refine the design and final scope to meet her specific needs, including the division of private garage spaces for her and her family. These tailored solutions also future-proofed the property, making it adaptable for potential condo conversion and separate ownership in the future.
