The Marie Bed and Breakfast is a journey back in time, to a simpler era. Where conscientious craftsmanship was the order of the day. The McIntyre house was built in 1892 and housed the McIntyre and Seely Families until the 1980s.

The dream to turn the house into a BnB was born with Leanne Marie Kirkwood who owned the house from 1990 until 2014. Ms. Kirkwood was unable to complete the vision, but Alicia Elliott, the woman who purchased the property in 2014, was set on bringing her vision to fruition. With a cautious eye to slow and careful reconstruction, the entire grounds and original house were lovingly restored.

The renovation was carried out with an eye toward sustainability and reuse. The flooring of the newer cottages and the flooring in the main dining room and lobby area are all reclaimed lumber. As much as we could keep of the original house was kept. All the windows, much of the molding inside, and the siding and front door are original.

The mission of the Marie, to provide authentic Victorian ambiance, paired with world class hospitality is acted out daily by the graciousness of our warm and professional staff. It is our fondest wish to include the community in the living history that the Marie is. We host several open houses throughout the year and give discounts to our local guests. We give preference to local vendors to supply our bedding, soaps, and food, thereby reducing our overall carbon footprint.
