21 Acres is a center for sustainable agriculture education and collective action. We offer a range of food and farm-based programs, workshops, events, and tours within the farm, market, and LEED platinum certified building.
The building is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday. We offer free green building tours twice a month and a farm tour once a month. In honor of the NW Green Home Tour, we have two building tours scheduled on Saturday, April 27, 11 am and 2 pm. If you’re traveling to see many green homes this day, 21 Acres is an ideal spot to take a bio break. There are indoor composting toilets and a Farm Market with fresh food.
21 Acres was awarded LEED Platinum Certification in 2013 by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The 12,000 square foot building was awarded the highest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. In 2022, 21 Acres received LEED O&M Platinum credentials. We also maintain Envirostars Certification which is an important designation recognizing the organization as being a green business.
There is ample information on the 21acres.org website, including a page dedicated to the building where there is a slide deck titled, “What Makes a Building Green.”
